Not being a mother, I don’t really understand children, but for the plot, I need one of my main characters to be a seven year old girl. I’ve now run out of steam in terms of child dialogue and behaviour. I’m therefore pondering a dramatic happening so that she can be either stuck away in an orphanage until I need her or live with relatives for some reason, leaving mother and me to get on with the plot.
