
Musilplatz
Only two days to go before NaNoWriMo2019 opens. I did a bit of tramping around to find a home for my protagonist, and have decided on one of the traditional blocks on Musilplatz in the 16thdistrict. I also like the idea that the area is named after an author (Robert Musil, 1880-1842).
It’s also been a day of contemplation, as I’m looking for new angles and a different approach, otherwise there is a danger of simply re-hashing scenes from previous novelling challenges. In particular, I need a better way of dealing with the all-important exposition. I’ve been ‘studying’ Anita Shreve, Mary Wesley, Minette Walters and, of course, Margaret Atwood for some pointers. And I’ve come to the conclusion that I need more characters to provide plenty of conversational opportunities. So that’s tomorrow’s task …
