Londonbeat - I''ve Been Thinking About You
Day three of NaNo, and I’m still on target. Today’s jottings see Stefan planning a major exhibition that reflects a century of LGBT. It’s a pity that this is all just fictional, because having done the research, as I must outline the details of the show in the novel, I have discovered some really interesting photographers. Perhaps the most interesting is Wilhelm von Gloeden (1856-1931) widely recognised as the first to photograph the male nude. He was a German photographer, but worked and lived for most of his life in Sicily. Sadly, after Wilhelm’s death Mussolini confiscated thousands of the glass plates and destroyed them on the grounds that they were pornographic.
I have added his book, which provides the title of today’s post, to my wish-list. I believe it translates as Disguises, Portraits, Living Pictures.
Today’s playlist track is Londonbeat’s I’ve Been Thinking About You. Happy memories of a Spanish disco in the early 1990s … that evening might find its way into the book in a fictional, re-written sort of way. Who knows?
