I always enjoy the research side of the novelling process, as I like to have true stories running through the chapters. I’m sure I read somewhere that this makes a novel more believable, so I’ve been researching scandals in the art world. I’m only at the start of the process (and already in danger of getting side-tracked) but some of the things I’ve been reading about are quite remarkable – as they say in the world of cliché ‘you couldn’t make it up’. But as this is a month for writing fiction, I shall, of course, be making up quite a lot of it. And I shall leave it to you, dear reader, to decide which scandals are fictitious and which are based on real events.
